Infant & Toddler Mental Health

As a parent to a new baby we often focus on their physical well being and make sure their needs are met.  We try our best and we read all the books we can on topics of parenting and how to's.

Unfortunately, in this process we often neglect a very important part of a baby's and toddler's development - their mental health. And no, I am not referring to making sure our kiddos are always happy and taken are of - I think a lot of us have the instinct to want to provide this to our kids regardless of what is going on in our lives.  I am referring to the development of their mental health and preventing serious illnesses from growing and developing as they grow older.

In this video I briefly talk about the following questions:

  • What is infant and toddler mental health?

  • What does it mean?

  • When do babies start developing emotions and when do they start affecting them?

  • What makes a baby and toddler have emotional responses?

  • Can infants and toddlers have mental health problems?

  • How does your own mental health contribute to the mental health of your infant and toddler?
